Dr. Richard Cowdell, Camp Director
In 2024, Rich will be entering his 33rd year as director and his 36th year on staff at Camp Rotary. Rich holds a doctorate in educational leadership and recently retired from a lengthy career in education as a popular teacher, counselor, and middle school principal for a local public school system. He is a certified educational psychologist, a basketball ref, a baseball umpire, and speaks fluent Spanish! He is married to Irene, a retired elementary school principal. They have two daughters, Kelsey (middle school ESL teacher) and Sarah (high school teacher / college counselor) . Sarah, will be returning this year but in her new role as our Assistant Director. (35th year on staff)
Sarah Cowdell, Assistant Director
Sarah, has been attending camp since she was born! She has been a camper, CIT, counselor, unit head, CIT Director, Program Director and 2024 will mark her first year as Assistant Director. As Assistant Director, Sarah assists in the overall supervision of camp and acts as director when Rich is not in camp. She has a special passion towards staff growth and development and works diligently with the leadership staff to ensure quality supervision drives our program to new heights. During the school year, Sarah works at a high school as a college liaison in an early college program. She also works privately, assisting students with college applications. (13th year on staff).
